“Aspire, Believe, Create”

Frederick Bremer School is an 11-16, multi-cultural, mixed comprehensive school. It is a truly inclusive school where all are welcome. We offer a modern inclusive curriculum supported by traditional values. It is our intention to be the pride of the community we serve. Frederick Bremer has high expectations of all members of its community, as reflected in the school’s motto.

“A very warm welcome to Frederick Bremer School which is an excellent local school at the heart of the local community. I have recently joined the school as Headteacher, and am incredibly honoured to be leading a school as special as this. Frederick Bremer is a new school, having only opened in 2008, and it prides itself on being a welcoming, friendly and successful school. All the staff in the school work incredibly hard to ensure every learner is supported, known and nourished in their development to adulthood – both academically and socially. We have a relentless ambition to make Bremer an outstanding community school, which we are all proud to be a part of.

Why is Bremer so special? There is an ethos in this school which is unique. While the school is a representative microcosm of its local community in terms of the diversity of our intake, it is held together by an invisible fabric. This is a school where every pupil is known, where relationships are positive and where children feel safe. In addition, all the stakeholders in the school recognise the value of the community and work incredibly hard to ensure that we all respect and understand our rights and responsibilities as 21st century Londoners. Whilst this school is increasingly successful in terms of our GCSE results, we also recognise the importance of developing the whole child and enfranchising them to be able to become active and responsible citizens and leaders of the 21st century.

Life at Bremer is very busy. In addition to receiving a broad and balanced curriculum, there are a wide range of activities for pupils to take part in. We have a flourishing Creative Arts department, which performs outstanding productions every year.

Our languages department regularly arranges trips to Europe. Our PE teams are very successful, and compete in a wide range of sports competitions and events as well as having opportunities to watch top events such as the Olympics and Wimbledon. Our More Able Programme is highly commended, and our pupils participate in a wide range of stretching events and projects and all pupils have opportunities to visit Universities and receive master classes from subject specialists. In addition, we have brokered a number of powerful links with businesses in the City. For example, a number of pupils have been mentored by Simmons & Simmons, and have had opportunities to attend work experience placements with them.
We are rightly proud of our Engineering specialism, and the impact this has on developing our STEM expertise (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). In addition to the specialist curriculum we offer, we also run many enrichment activities and master classes around the Engineering theme.
However, we are not complacent and we are determined that this school will be recognised as a good school within the year and we are striving to become outstanding. In order for this to happen, we are all committed to:

• Ensuring that the vast majority of our pupils exceed their anticipated targets for the end of GCSEs, and that our results continue to improve significantly
• That every lesson across the school is good or outstanding
• That behaviour and safety remain strengths of the school
• That every leader and teacher across the school remains ambitious in their expectations for every learner.
