NELTA is a high quality teacher training provider that gave me the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding to start a career in teaching. The team at NELTA are incredibly responsive and always keen to help me out. They supported me at every level, form a mentor who guided me in lesson planning, to a professional tutor who provided detailed constructive feedback for all my assignments and lesson observations. In addition, the weekly subject knowledge and toolkit sessions were a very enriching learning experience and taught me a great deal about good teaching pedagogy. I am now teaching Science at Beal high school and would absolutely recommend NELTA to anyone looking to start a career in teaching.

I got the help and direction I needed to get ready for my profession as a PE teacher from the NELTA programme. I was provided with the opportunity by NELTA to work in two placement schools over the course of a year; this practical approach has been incredibly helpful and gets you ready for craziness of school life. The NELTA personnel and mentors were always outstanding and available for assistance and advice. The conferences and training days were all pertinent and tailored to my needs. No other programme, in my opinion, could possibly provide you with the depth and breadth of the theoretical and practical instruction, as well as the degree of assistance you get from your Mentor. If you’re prepared to put in extra effort and go the extra mile, this is the course for any aspiring teacher.

At the start of my teaching career, I lacked confidence and was quite unsettled. My mentor and the NELTA team taught me to aspire to greatness and to believe in myself and my abilities. The team were supportive throughout. I had weekly mentor meetings and by following and guidance of my mentor, I have improved behaviour in my lessons. I have learned to implement the school’s behaviour policies and sanctions appropriately, while also using achievement points for positive reinforcement.
The NELTA team were available for me at any time of the day whenever I needed support. I strongly feel that with NELTA guidance, my growth curve has improved. They provided many training sessions that included EAL and SEN support. Marking and feedback sessions were extremely useful. I am working to improve my skills by providing students with their current level and grades so I can ensure that I promote independent learning.
My tutor took a lot of time to support me and guided me in every way she could. She observed my lessons regularly and gave thorough feedback along with different strategies which I could use to reach those targets. Her professional guidance was invaluable. She always took great care towards me and my wellbeing over the duration of the course. Overall, I have had a great experience at NELTA and have learnt a lot from my training year.
